“All We Have To Decide Is…”

In aims to be inspired for our first short film, “:DK THE GREY” my wife and I watched “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" (Extended Version) I was super excited because we finally got to watch extended the version! I’ve been a huge fan of Lord of the Rings because it’s about my people (Hobbits) but my wife never saw Lord of the Rings and when I found out I said, “WHAT?!? You never seen Lord of Rings?!? We have to watch it! And when we started watching it I fell asleep. HAHA! Last night we got through the whole thing in one shot (minus the 3 bathroom breaks and midnight snack, peanut butter Clif bar…mhmmmmm)

WOW! The movie is so packed with timeless wisdom however one phrase really stuck out to us. It was when Frodo Baggins started to get discouraged with having the mission to carry the ring to Mordor, “I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decided is what to do with the time that is given to us.” I just wanted to remind you today that you have a great mission too! Maybe you are not a Hobbit like me with beautiful hairy feet and need to throw a ring into a treacherous volcano to save the world however God has given you a mission to be completed! Honestly life is like a series of mini-missions that God gives you season by season. Some missions you will have the blessing of companions but other missions you have to go alone. Jesus was given the ultimate mission to live a perfect life, die a perfect death, rise from the dead so we can be in relationship with God. During his mission Jesus was discouraged too, and he prayed to God the Father saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” - Luke 22:42

Take this time to pray and meditate on the mission God has given you TODAY. Be honest and pray your concerns to God but be encouraged and be reminded that “All we have to decide is what do with the time that is given us, NOT MY WILL BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE!” -Gandalf / Jesus
