Sex, Significance, Salary
Sex, Significance, Salary.
Or
Fornicating, Fame, Fortune.
Three areas of life we all struggle with. When I first became a Pastor at 19 years old my Dad, my Hero, The Legend Reverend Yong Bae Kim warned me to beware of falling into the temptations of lust, popularity, and greed.
Sex, Significance, and Salary are not bad in themselves but when we make sex into lust rather then love, significance of human approval rather than DIVIN3APPROVAL, or when we become greedy with our salary instead of grateful for our salary is when we fall into temptation.
How do we then not only avoid falling into the temptations of lust, popularity (human approval), and greed but how can we turn this negative energy into something positive for the Kingdom of God?
How to conquer lust:
The example for how we can overcome lust is learned from Joseph. The temptation of lust is so strong we are advised to run! Run away from any situation that we might be caught up in the act of lust.
Genesis 39:12
she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.
How to conquer human approval:
We must be moved by the truth that we were made for God’s glory and not our own. We have to remind ourselves everyday we are living for God in everything we do.
Human approval is never enough and it will leave us wanting to be loved more by others, however DIVIN3APPROVAL is always more than enough and it will always leave you wanting to love others more.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
How to conquer greed:
My good friend and dear Brother Pastor Paul Jason Capistrano has said to me, “We are Rivers not Lakes!” We have to be reminded that God has given us blessings to be a blessing. We also have to be reminded that we are more joyful when we give rather than we receive!

Let’s run away from any possible way of falling into lust!
Let’s be reminded of DIVIN3APPROVAL over human approval.
And let’s be Rivers and not Lakes by giving away what God has given to us!
