Isaiah 53:3 says,

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Elisabeth Elliot was a woman of sorrows that was very closely acquainted with grief. Her first husband, Jim Elliot along with four of his companions were all speared to death by the Waoroni people of Ecuador after attempting to share the Gospel with them. After their husbands were murdered the women and their families said come home and we will help you raise your children. The women decided to pray and ask God what He wanted them to do. They decided to “pray and stay” and go to the people who killed their husbands to tell them that God is a God of forgiveness. The whole Waoroni Tribe later on would come to know God and the message of the Gospel.

Years later Elisabeth comes back to America and remarries however she loses her 2nd husband to cancer. She is famous for responding by saying, “Trust and obey, there is no other way.”

You might of lost your parent, you might of lost your husband, you might of lost your wife, you might of lost your child but remember that God doesn’t waste a broken heart. Suffering is never for nothing. God will use your loss to point people to the cross.

Psalm 30:5

For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

God will turn all your tears of sorrow into a beautiful rainbow for tomorrow!

Tears are only different colors to paint a beautiful picture that points to the ultimate Artist.

The people that have been hurt the most have the capacity to help the most.

Who can you help today?
